Meprolight and Round Counters

Matt spoke about a new optic from Meprolight which also includes a round counter! You can read more about it in this TFB article written by Matt here
Round counters were discussed including the history of round counters, going all the way back to the US Army’s 1911 pistol trials and the possible development paths for round counters in the near future.

Turkish Air Rifle and Anti Drone Shotgun Shells

Miles also presented a Turkish air rifle he saw at the convention, which had features combined from M16A2 (the handguard) and M16A4 (the railed upper receiver) and included a break-open rifle. It was designed for the US market.

That was followed by Turkish anti-drone shotgun rounds which the manufacturers of the shotgun round claimed it has an effective range of 150 meters (a bit of a stretch in Miles’ opinion).

Optics on Handguns: is it Worth it?

Matthew then brought up the topic of optics on handguns, which were extremely popular at this year’s SHOT, and everyone discussed their opinion and the pros and cons of handgun optics. Miles followed up by showing a number of Turkish pistols with optics.

Sword International

Then, Miles spoke about the Sword International booth at the show. He discussed a very small contract Sword International had with SOCOM and managed to get into the hands of the Kurds in Syria.

Bul Armory

Back to Israel, Miles spoke about Bull Armory’s booth and his experience with the sales representatives when they were shocked to see their own handguns with “DDG” (Delta Defense Group) inscribed on them. Knock offs? Actual Bull Armory’s handguns? The jury is still out on this one.

ATA Arms ASR Multi-Caliber Rifle

Finally, Miles spoke about a Turkish sniper rifle by ATA Arms and mentioned that the Turkish Special Forces prefer to use European made weaponry over Turkish. The rifle is called the ASR and is a multi-caliber platform.

IWI Cutaway Tavors

The discussion rounded out with the guys talking about a pair of SAR-21 Tavors which had been cutaway displayed at the IWI booth. Check out Matt’s video of the cutaway rifles here.
