Field Notes and Observations
The Silah Report reference database is a tool intended to be used by researchers in order to further a comprehensive study of small arms and light weapons in the MENA and Central Asian regions. The criteria for an object entering the collection is that it has to have been of indigenous use within the region and have a SALW connection. In addition to small arms this includes documents, images, and other such media that builds a more comprehensive picture of their usage. Entries in the collection include but are not limited to visits to reference collections around the world, open-source examples, and contributions from the greater Silah Report community of writers, editors, and enthusiasts.

Silah Report Working Reference Collection

Silah Report does maintain a working reference collection of objects that are available to qualified researchers for in-person visits. If you have any interest in donating or selling an item that might be of interest, please check out our Acquisitions page for more information.

Researcher Access

The entirety of the collection is available for viewing through these portals, but to gain access to complete entries and further high-quality photographs, researchers may subscribe to our Insider Tier on the Silah Report Patreon Page. Please register for the database here. If you have already registered for the database, please log in here.
