Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has published a press release telling about the small arms found in the house of recently arrested former president Almazbek Atambayev. The police raid of Atambayev’s compound took place on August 9 in the village of Koy Tash. The police forces faced armed resistance by former president’s supporters but eventually, Atambayev was arrested.
The press release mentions that during the search the following firearms were seized: SVD rifle, SKS rifle, Tokarev TT pistol which the former president was awarded with, Saiga carbine, double-barreled TOZ shotgun, Fabarm shotgun, Fausti Progress semi-auto shotgun, Zoli shotgun, two GM-100 9mm pistols and PST “Kapral” less-lethal pistol. There is also a bolt action rifle which model is not specified in the press release. Overall there were 11 firearms seized from the former president’s house.
Due to the quality of the photo, it is hard to precisely identify the two pistols referred to as GM-100 (see the bottom right corner of the above-embedded image). The GM-100 pistols that this author is aware of are Glock clones made by a Russia company called SKAT. The pistols in the pictures are obviously not Glocks clones.
The PST “Kapral” is a semi-auto less-lethal pistol chambered in 10x23mmT – a less-lethal cartridge loaded with rubber projectiles. PST “Kapral” is based on the PP-91 “Kedr” SMG and it is made by Zlatoust Machine-Building Plant.
Besides the mentioned weapons, the police also found seven pump-action shotguns that Atambayev’s supporters captured from the police officers. Reportedly, police used less-lethal rubber ammunition in these shotguns.
These are apparently Turkish Akkar Karatay 612 TAC Folding 12 gauge shotguns. Here are a couple of pictures of these shotguns from the manufacturer’s website.
